What bibliometric indicators are needed to assess the quality of publications?

Choose free, user-friendly bibliometric tools based on a large corpus of peer-reviewed journals (such as SCImago).

Compare comparable journals within the same field or country: French-language journals are naturally less cited than English-language ones.

Keep a critical eye: a magazine's reputation does not necessarily mean the reputation (and quality) of all its articles. More often than not, only a minority of articles account for the majority of citations.

The order of presentation of publications or institutions can change radically depending on the indicator used to rank them. Communicators know this... beware!
