In its natural state, strontium is mainly found as carbonate (SrCO3, strontianite) and sulfate (SrSO4, celestine). A very large number of synthetic materials also contain this element. For example, until recently, strontium-containing glass was used in CRT televisions to slow down X-ray emissions. In the field of microelectronics, Sr titanate (such as SrTiO3) and Sr niobate (such as SrNb2O6 and Sr2Nb2O7) phases have attracted much interest due to their dielectric properties.
