5. Key autonomous vehicle functions and technologies
An autonomous vehicle is actually an assembly of a multitude of functions supported by both hardware (sensors, actuators, ECUs) and software. These functions are integrated into basic functional blocks or "technological bricks"; the organization of these bricks and their interactions constitute the vehicle's architecture, and are the subject of a specific section of this article.
Some of these functions form the foundations of ADAS and autonomous vehicles. We review them below.
