3. QUIC and PEP
The first version of Quick User Datagram Protocol (UDP) Internet Connections (QUIC) is standardized by the

. In addition, QUIC has been measured as taking up a non-negligible share of the volume transmitted in a broadband access, notably due to the players implementing it, such as Google or Facebook. It is therefore necessary to understand the performance of the QUIC protocol in a deployment context that has not, a priori, been considered in its design. This section describes QUIC and the issues involved in deploying it in satellite communications.
