4. Portable applications
Above all, portable apps need to run in a "portable application menu", a kind of "umbrella" software that transforms the USB stick into a turnkey work environment.
Then, once the base has been installed on the USB key, the user can shop among the hundreds of portable applications available on sites referencing "open source" content. The applications available are either stand-alone or grouped into thematic kits. This includes all software relating to a particular theme: systems toolbox, office automation, graphics, Internet...
Finally, once the necessary applications have been identified, you'll need to install portable application security tools to protect the USB key from network and virus attacks.
