5. Obligations relating to the protection of personal data
Personal data transiting company networks is becoming increasingly important. Its use is governed by the French Data Protection Act of January 6, 1978, amended in August 2004, which aims to reconcile the rights of individuals with the freedom to process information about them.
The provisions of this law apply to all companies, whatever their sector of activity, as soon as they implement the processing of personal data, whether this involves basic computer files (personnel files or customer files), or systems using other technologies (telephony, internet, access badges, biometrics, video surveillance)
