1. Filter characterization

  • Main filter parameters

    Since we're talking about filters here, it's worth recalling the main parameters that characterize a filter. A filter is generally a "two-port" component, or even three or four ports if the circuit is differential on input and/or output.

    A filter can be characterized by its matrix of electrical admittances [Y] or by its matrix of electrical impedances [Z], or by an electrical transfer matrix [T] . All can be deduced from each other (see figure 1 ).
