INTRODUCTION
The concept of "negative refraction" is introduced in the context of periodic metallic or metallodielectric artificial structures. The sub-wavelength structuring of these devices gives them abnormal electromagnetic or optical properties, making it possible to design a planar "super-lens" whose resolution limit depends on how finely the metamaterial is structured.
