7. Current applications: benefits, limitations and future prospects

These cold materials have several relevant characteristics such as:

  • immediate or a few hours' consolidation at room temperature, enabling them to be used as a grout or binder; mechanical properties are obtained from day one; ease of processing also makes them suitable for additive manufacturing;

  • adhesion to any substrate;

  • resistance to severe freeze-thaw and high-temperature conditions.

What's more, from an environmental point of view, their recyclability in new formulations is possible minimizing CO 2 emissions by 80% compared to cement. However, we can cite limitations for the use of these materials:

  • 10-50% porosity, which limits certain ceramic...
