ABSTRACT

The concept of M3C does not consist of inserting active elements into the composite structure, such as piezoelectric, shape memory, or magnetostrictive, but to convert the entire structure into an active structure. This new adaptive material, lightweight and durable, alters its configuration, form or properties in response to changes in the environment. A M3C active structure may constitute an actuator by overcoming the need for mechanical connections. Applications are under consideration in the aviation, aerospace and energy sectors.

 INTRODUCTION

This new adaptive material, light and resistant, deforms under the action of a change in environment. An active M3C structure can act as an actuator without the need for mechanical connections. Applications are envisaged in aeronautics, aerospace and energy.
