3. Examples of refractory ceramics
Refractory ceramics are complex, heterogeneous materials whose diversity of raw materials is the reason for their widespread use. Given this diversity, we cannot provide an exhaustive catalog of refractory ceramics here, but only a list of a few products chosen from the major families defined above.
Dense shaped refractory products of the silica-alumina family are classified, according to European standard EN 12475, according to five criteria:
