Anas; shives

Waste from scutching with tow. This waste is not used in textiles but is recycled in various applications: particle board, animal bedding, horticultural mulch, and even fuel for heating.

Spindle bench; roving frame

Machine for stretching a fiber ribbon and forming a slightly twisted strand.

Cardoon; card

Machine for detangling, separating, and cleaning carding or combing tow by the mechanical action of metal fittings.

Continuous spinning (ring and slide spinning machine); ring spinning frame

The spinning process itself, in which a sliver is first drawn out in a drawing frame using rollers. The resulting fiber flow is twisted by the rotation of the spindle, which uses the thread thus produced to drive the slide along a circular ring, thereby winding the thread onto a bobbin.
