Armor ; Weave
Characterized by the way the warp and weft yarns are interwoven.
Weave diagram
This is done on a grid, with each vertical row representing a warp thread and each horizontal row a weft thread. Each square represents the intersection of a warp thread and a weft thread. Two warp thread evolutions are possible, designated by the following two states: one taken and one left.
Pris ; Warp float
Warp thread passes over weft thread.
By convention, the corresponding box on the card is filled in.
On the weaving machine, the warp thread must rise to allow the weft thread to pass through.
Laissé ; Weft float
The warp thread passes under the weft thread.
