Continuous casting of thin slabs

The thin slab machines at these two steelworks are now in industrial operation. Historically, it was at the Buschutten plant (Germany) that SMS developed the process, in the years 85-86.

The CSP process is a compact unit that goes without interruption from the pouring of liquid steel to the finished hot-rolled product in coil form. The three parts of the plant are discussed in turn: the continuous caster, the reheating furnace and the rolling mill.
