2. Continuous lines from steel mill to hot-rolled product
While we have seen that the development of continuous lines associated with continuous production processes was very rapid upstream, especially in the case of electric steel mills, but also for the production of cast iron, it is essential to look at what happens downstream, i.e. after the steel mill. This is where the advent of continuous casting, followed by its most recent developments, have considerably changed steel plant design. It should be remembered that all these downstream developments are practically independent of the type of steelworks, whether oxygen or electric.
