3. Scandium deposits and occurrences
Scandium rarely forms deposits, i.e. rocks with concentrations high enough to be economically profitable. In fact, in most cases, we find ourselves in the presence of rocks with low scandium content (or "deposits") where the metal cannot be mined profitably on its own. When concentrations are even lower, in the tens of ppm range, these are known as "scandiferous occurrences". These are very numerous
