3. Metal-silk balances

As the slag's composition enables it to control exchanges with the metal, it is necessary to be able to act on the available parameters in such a way as to shift a valuable element towards the metal or, conversely, a deleterious element towards the slag.

Similarly, if the composition of a molten metal is adjusted using additives, we need to be sure that the added elements will not find their way, at least in part, into the slag.
