1. Context

The co-mixer is a special extruder, invented in 1945 by Heinz List and initially marketed by the Swiss company Buss AG. The co-mixer is in fact composed of two extrusion units (figure 1 ): the co-mixer itself, the preferred mixing tool, and a recovery unit, usually a single-screw extruder, designed to smooth the pulsating flow due to the oscillating movement of the co-mixer screw (see § 2.1.1
