5. Conclusion and outlook
From an aeronautical engineering point of view, understanding
mechanical performance in the event of fire is an essential safety
issue, as the loss of stiffness, strength and creep resistance can
lead to the deformation and collapse of aeronautical composite structures,
with catastrophic consequences. Thus, the structural properties of
composites under thermal stress (high temperature or flame) are fundamental
data for the dimensioning of parts and structures in parts of the
aircraft where certification standards are very strict.
In order to establish design rules, this article provides information
on the specific methodology and characteristic behaviors and properties
needed to better understand thermomechanical couplings within composite
