2. Influence of thermal stress on CMO behavior
Thermal attack on a CMO takes place in two phases. As the temperature
rises, the material first undergoes thermal degradation. Defined by
the
ISO 13943 :2017
It is "the process by which the action of heat (...) causes
a deterioration (...) of several properties". More generally, it can
be seen as a temperature-related modification of thermophysical and
mechanical properties. Secondly, it undergoes thermal decomposition,
which corresponds to the set of mechanisms that lead to changes in
its chemical structure (chain breakage, oxidation, formation of decomposition
gases, pyrolysis, etc.).
