Reaction molding
Safety in plastics processing

The materials used in the reaction molding process are polymers (essentially from the polyurethane family) resulting from an exothermic addition reaction of two liquid products dosed in specific quantities and mixed before being introduced into a mold.

Reactive products are generally :

• isocyanates and polyols;

• amines such as methylene bis orthochloraniline (MOCA) [9] .

To these reactive products are added non-reactive products such as catalysts and blowing agents for foams and lightweight materials. Depending on the reactive products used and their dosages, we obtain: flexible materials (elastomers), rigid or flexible foams and thermosetting resins.
