Over the past thirty-five years, the proportion of "plastics" (i.e. synthetic materials excluding rubber and paint) in the automotive industry has risen steadily, from around 3% by vehicle weight for the R6 (1968) to 14% for the Laguna (1994) .
The parts used in the passenger compartment for the vehicle's interior trim now account for 50-60% of the above quantities
