2.1 Preliminary overview of metal rheology
The tensile test (figure 5a) is used to define the main rheological characteristics of a homogeneous material. The test specimen, generally axisymmetric, comprises a section of constant area A0 (radius R0) over a length L0. The evolution of the applied force F is measured as a function of the elongation ΔL of the uniform section part.
