fatigue; tiredness
Progressive failure of a specimen or structure subjected to cyclic
loading, leading to failure.
High Cycle Fatigue (HCF)
This is a field where service lives are generally between 50,000
and several million cycles, and where the stress remains mostly below
the material's elastic limit. Tests are stress-controlled.
oligocyclic fatigue; Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF)
A field where service lives are generally between a few hundred
and a few million cycles, and where the load is mostly above the material's
elastic limit. Tests are deformation-controlled.
gigacyclic fatigue; gigacyclic fatigue
Where service lives range from several million to several billion
cycles, and where the stress is far below the material's...
