5.1.1 The benefits of foams
For this type of application, of course, only metal foams with an open structure (communicating pores) can be used.
Compared with conventional heat exchanger materials, metal foams have a considerable morphological advantage. They are highly porous materials with significant tortuosity.
As a result, heat exchangers using metallic foams offer substantial advantages over conventional exchangers....
