3. Numerical modeling of tests
Determining the level of local damage to a structure requires knowledge of the mechanical variables of the damage law.
As mechanical problems are generally not analytically solvable, we use a numerical method, such as the finite element method.
Here, we present a finite element model of the classic CT (Compact Tension) toughness test, and a model of the impact test, developing aspects linked to test dynamics and contacts.
