Steels for cold forming and deep drawing

Mild steels are still the most widely used cold-forming and deep-drawing steels in the automotive industry, particularly for cold-rolled bodywork products. The range of these steels is covered by two process-related standards:

• NF EN 10130 for cold-rolled steels;

• NF EN 10111 for hot-rolled steels.

In view of ageing phenomena, an important factor since prolonged storage of the products can lead to a change in mechanical characteristics which may reduce their suitability for forming and stamping, contractual lead times from the time of delivery by the producer are defined for the various grades in these standards....
