7. Conclusion

In the sometimes unfavorable international economic climate of the 2000s, manufacturers were faced with cost-cutting logics that tempered the boom in TiAl-based alloys. It was difficult to support the development of a material whose raw material cost was higher, and whose manufacturing process costs had to take account of titanium's reactivity and additional operations (CIC, sheathing, chemical and mechanical machining). It has also proved difficult to define the minimum level of ductility acceptable for a given industrial application, which has contributed to dampening the enthusiasm of design offices to adopt this material.
