3. Lightweight frames
The pathology of lightweight structures with spans of less than 20 m includes trusses, box structures and timber-frame constructions.
There are 80 truss losses per year, or 1% of the total construction total. Of the 170 truss claims analyzed in the [3] survey, 66 were due to transverse buckling, which was the cause of 10 of the 14 collapses. These cases of buckling are examples of a series of statutory claims.
The buckling of the trusses shown in figure 12 is typical. The professional design and calculation rules applicable until the publication of DTU 31.3 in May 1995 have been respected, and the implementation is not at fault. The misjudgment...
