Metallic materials and coatings used at high temperatures, between 500 and 1,200°C, are subject to surface degradation by oxidation, known as "dry corrosion" or high-temperature oxidation

. However, for many applications, the durability of alloys is also influenced by the presence of corrosive deposits on the surface of components, which severely affect their service life. This is referred to as "hot corrosion" degradation
