5. Assembly
Stainless steels are supplied in the form of semi-finished products. These are mainly flat products (coils, strips, sheets), long products (bars, wires), tubes and cast or forged parts. These semi-finished products are then cut, shaped and assembled by users (, § 1.3 Main areas of use). Assembly is one of the major components of the implementation process.

A large number of welding processes can be applied to stainless steels. The main ones are listed in table 9.
Different types of stainless steel undergo different structural modifications, depending on the welding process used. The recommendations they suggest are summarized in Table 10.
