INTRODUCTION
To better adapt the choice of sheet metal to a given type of stamping, it is important to take into account the influence of mechanical characteristics on forming. The first part of this article describes the forces involved in forming, followed by a detailed analysis of the role of mechanical characteristics such as anisotropy coefficient, drawing coefficient, yield strength and tensile strength. Metallurgical factors such as crystallography, metallographic structure, grain size, surface area and material homogeneity also influence formability and will also be examined.
