1. Introduction to Elastoplasticity
In the uniaxial tensile analysis, we saw that the total strain is the sum of a reversible elastic strain and an irreversible plastic strain (24) from the document [42].
This situation is illustrated in Figure1 by a rheological model in which a spring represents the elastic component and a sliding pad (when a stress threshold is reached) represents the plastic deformation.
Note that while, in this analog model, the total strain is, at every instant, the sum of an elastic strain and a plastic strain, the total strain rate is also, at every instant, the sum of an elastic strain rate and a plastic strain rate, as illustrated in Figure
