Steel wire drawing

Nearly one million tonnes of steel are drawn in France.

There are several ways of classifying wires produced by wire drawing. We propose here a classification by market type:

• Construction and building with concrete reinforcement, prestressing wire used in engineering structures (figure 2 ), metal fibers, welded wire mesh, spikes, wire mesh, etc..,

• Agriculture with, of course, industrial springs, wire for trellising vines or fruit trees, fencing, etc,

• Energy, with wires used for reinforcement in nuclear power plants, shaped wires for offshore pipe reinforcement, welding wires, saw wire for silicon rods used in solar panels,...
