There are some fifteen small-angle neutron scattering spectrometers in Europe (1997), located around neutron sources and intended for research in these countries. Access is open to all, according to the specific procedures of each of the organizations in charge (cf. ).
The essential parameter of a small-angle neutron scattering apparatus is the modulus of the scattering vector q = (4π/λ) sin (θ/2). The range of variation of this parameter, qmin < q < 5 nm-1, characterizes spectrometers built on a compromise between device length and the smallest value of qmin compatible with sufficient scattered intensity.
