Blow molds
Extrusion blow-molding of large hollow plastic bodies

The mould ensures :

• the final shape of the product by contact of the parison with the mould cavity during blowing;

• gluing the parison back together to form the envelope;

• sealing the envelope in the mold;

• cooling the envelope through heat exchange.

A mould consists of the following components (figure 37 ):

• the impression, into which the shape of the blown body is carved;

• the socket, which secures the impression to the press platens;
