The growing use of high-performance composite materials is undoubtedly due to their exceptional fatigue resistance. Even lighter than aluminum alloys, they are significantly better than the latter when subjected to cyclic loads.
As a criterion, we usually evaluate the ratio σ

For composite materials, this ratio is always higher than 0.4 and can reach 0.9. These values should be compared with those for metals and alloys (0.3 for aluminum and 0.4 for iron and its alloys).
