In all cases of radical oxidation, the oxidation rate rox (rate of oxygen consumption by the substrate), varies with the oxygen concentration C according to a curve whose shape is schematized figure 1.
This is always a curve with a horizontal asymptote rox = rS expressing the fact that the reaction (2) is very fast (typically k2 > 108 L · mol–1· s–1)...
