1. Centrifugal force

1.1 General

When a body is rotated around a fixed axis, it is subjected to centrifugal acceleration. In order to maintain the body in its trajectory, a centripetal force of the same magnitude is developed (fundamental principle of mechanics) and this body therefore exerts an opposite centrifugal force on the device that constrains it (figure 1 ).
