ABSTRACT
The so called "sandwich" structures are produced by gluing or welding two thin skins on a lighter core with lower mechanic characteristics which maintains their spacing and transmits by shearing mechanical actions from one skin to the other. This article presents the sandwich structure concept through a description of the nature and properties of the constitutive materials, several notions related to the design of sandwich parts, the main manufacturing methods, bonding and finishing techniques and the various applications.

INTRODUCTION
Sandwich structures play an important role in the construction of composite parts. They can be found in practically every field of application. These structures result from the bonding or welding of two thin skins (or soles) to a lighter core (or core) of weaker mechanical properties, which maintains their spacing and transmits mechanical actions from one skin to the other by shearing.
