7. Post-processing

7.1 Stabilization annealing

Stabilization annealing is sometimes necessary after coating to give it properties different from those obtained at the end of the bath. This annealing allows:

  • improve the adhesion of the coating by diffusing it into the undercoat or substrate;

  • release the internal stresses created during deposition;

  • release gases trapped in the coating during electrolysis.
