1.1 Indications
Orthopedics is a branch of medicine, "essentially a surgical discipline that treats congenital or acquired disorders of the musculoskeletal system and spine (bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles)" .
The purpose of an orthopedic prosthesis is to replace part of the musculoskeletal system in all its functions: transmission of force, movement, cushioning, etc. Orthopedic prostheses must therefore replace one or more of the functions of different types of tissue: bone, cartilage, tendons...
