Satinizing solutions generally contain hydrofluoric acid (HF) and fluorinated alkali or alkaline-earth salts. Among them, the fluorinated salts mostly employed are ammonium fluoride (NH 4 F) and potassium fluoride (KF), sometimes accompanied by other salts such as sodium fluoride (NaF), calcium fluoride (CaF 2 ) or magnesium fluoride (MgF 2 )
