The definition of packaging set out in EU Directive 94/62 distinguishes and defines the various classes of packaging.
Packaging is any product made of materials of any kind, designed to contain and protect goods, from raw materials to finished products, to enable their handling and transportation from producer to consumer or user, and to ensure their presentation.
