The basics in Centrifugal Partition Chromatography

A CPC column is set up by bringing the stationary and mobile phases into fluidic equilibrium. To achieve this, the column, whether rotor or coil, is first filled with stationary phase and rotated at the speed required to obtain the desired centrifugal field. The mobile phase is then introduced via the pump, and its inlet expels a certain quantity of stationary phase, until equilibrium is reached. Once the column is ready, the sample can be injected. Elution through the column can take place in several modes. In addition to the isocratic elution mode familiar to users of solid phase chromatography (HPLC), modes specific to centrifugal partition chromatography can also be implemented.
