2. Functionalization of AFM levers and tips with inert particles
The functionalization of AFM levers with inert particles dates back to the 1990s. The team of Ducker et al. was the first to attach 7 µm diameter silica spheres by gluing them to the end of an AFM lever using a resin-based glue.
