These are the first routes of contact and entry of toxic substances into the body.

Local clinical signs are as follows.

• Nasal :

  • nasal irritation (acids, acrylates, etc.),

  • degeneration of the olfactory epithelium (formaldehyde, acids);

  Note also sensory irritation = neurological inflammation perceived in the nose, by excitation of the fifth cranial nerve, but which does not give rise to clinical signs of irritation.

• Pulmonary :

  • alteration, paralysis or depletion of the cilia of the epithelial cells of the tracheobronchial...
