1. Criticality
The laboratory using a piece of equipment (standard, reference materials, measuring instrument, analytical equipment or intermediate equipment) must define its criticality.
Metrological control of equipment is ensured for equipment identified as critical. Non-critical equipment is maintained to ensure that it is available when needed.
The risk analysis, which identifies the risks to be controlled and their potential effectiveness, is carried out in 5 stages (figure
