6. Equipment maintenance
Equipment maintenance guarantees the availability and good working order of laboratory equipment.
There are two types of maintenance:
corrective maintenance, carried out when equipment breaks down;
preventive maintenance, which is carried out before the equipment breaks down, or periodically to avoid breakdowns.
The frame of reference ISO 17025-2017 urges laboratories to put in place quality measures for preventive maintenance in order to anticipate metrological drifts.

For each piece of equipment requiring maintenance, the nature and frequency of maintenance operations are indicated in the maintenance schedule.
