This data sheet proposes a statistical method for comparing measuring chains and instruments, based on hypothesis testing: C2I (Inter-Instrument Comparison). Particularly useful in cases of difficult connections, it provides a solution to the calibration needs of non-removable measuring chains.
More than a classic monitoring procedure, its aim is to demonstrate that, following calibration, the connection is maintained over time.
It is not uncommon for companies to have a large number of similar measuring instruments and chains (scales, pipettes, torque wrenches, calipers, thermometers, etc.). Systematic calibrations, often scheduled at fixed intervals (one year), entail additional costs, either in terms of quality (too long intervals leading to non-conformities), or financial (too short intervals leading to excess quality). C2I makes it possible to optimize intervals while maintaining the connection.
